So.... I've discovered a new line catered to my type 4 girls and I NEED to spill the tea!
"The Gorgeously Kinky brand is a celebration of our deeply textured roots. It was created as a way of expression of love for our kinks, coils and curls"
In a market where everyone is coming out with new hair products left and right, two things that stand out to me when looking at an up and coming brand are their purpose and presentation. Gorgeously Kinky celebrates the multi-textured, multi-cultured beauty. Their products are all natural (of course) infused with nourishing botanicals and yummy butters! Their products are expertly crafted to showcase the beauty of our hair. Gorgeously kinky is "for that girl, the girl who embraces all that she was born with, naturally."
Born out of the the need to create products for tighter coiled hair, their products that do not contain Shea Butter or Coconut Oil. Many kinky curly fro's actually don't favor Coconut Oil or Shea Butter. Gorgeously Kinky created the brand for someone special who is allergic to both Shea Butter and Coconut Oil and/or who couldn't find the right products for her tightly coiled, dry hair that didn't contain those ingredients. Their products are also all free from paragons, mineral oil, phthalates, petroleum, silicones and harsh sulfates.
Thanks to Gorgeously Kinky, I was sent 4 products from their line to try! I loved them so much that I needed to show/tell you all about them before I was able to film a full video. Plus, you don't want to miss out on their huge Black Friday sale. Starting 11/23/17-11/27-17 you can get 40% off your order using the code "GORGEOUSLY BLACK"!
In the meantime, you can check out my written thoughts on the products below, as well as my Instagram (@_kaicealea) to watch a mini-tutorial on how I used 3/4 products to create the look you see above!
SO HERE'S THE TEA
All The Products I Received:
*Knot Melt Detangling Leave-In: $13.99
Marshmallow Root Extract - Softens hair and adds hydration.
Mafura Butter - Moisturizes, seals in moisture and nourishes.
Honey - Attracts moisture to the hair.
Broccoli Seed Oil - Very moisturizing and Vitamin rich.
Why I love it:
OMG. So I applied this to dry, 5-day old hair. As soon as I applied it, my fingers instantly ran through my hair and I could feel how hydrating it was! It's super light weight and a great product to layer other products on. It's like a hair primer for any style on type 4 curls!
*5-Day Hydrate Moisturizing Butter Cream: $15.99
Mafura Butter - Nourishing and moisturizing.
Olive Oil - Very hydrating on dry hair.
Castor Oil - Rich, nourishing, thickening. Promotes healthy hair growth and scalp.
Avocado Oil - Very softening and moisturizing.
Why I love it:
If I had to pick ONE product from the whole line, I would say this butter is a MUST BUY! It is super fluffy and light, but also very buttery and moisturizing. It left my hair feeling so soft and bouncy. It will NOT leave your hair feeling weighed down or greasy. I haven't quite tested the 5-day hydration claim yet, but let's just say I've been wearing the same twist out for 3 days so far and don't see any need to touch it yet!
*Twisted Coils Defining Soufflé: $15.99
Aloe Juice - Imparts and draws moisture to the hair.
Avocado Oil- Extremely moisturizing and hydrating on dry hair.
Mafura Butter - Nourishing and softening.
Why I love it:
The best thing about this product is that it's an extreme multitasker. It can be used to define your natural curls for a wash n'go, or it can be used for pre-set styles like twist outs, braid outs, bantu knots, ect. The consistency almost reminds me of a gel and a moisturizer mixed. My twist out was super defined and soft to the touch, high recommend if you're searching for a new styling product that you can use in several ways.
*Intense Quench Hydrating Deep Conditioner: $15.99
Avocado Oil - Very hydrating and softening on dry and damaged hair.
Castor Oil - Softens and makes hair strands strong and healthy.
Wheat Germ Oil - A ceramide that creates moisture binding properties to hair.
Honey - Provides hydration to hair by drawing moisture to it.
Cant't Say My Thoughts Quite Yet!
Unfortunately, I haven't tried the deep conditioner yet! All I know is, this deep conditioner has 2 of my favorite natural ingredients in it: castor oil and honey. I'm almost certain my hair will like it! It's definitely going to be featured in a "hair mask monday" very soon!
